2020 Board Leadership Application

The Laredo Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors govern the overall execution of the organization. Principally, the Board manages organizational finances and sets long term priorities for programs, committees and the Multiple Listing Service. The members of the Board contribute to the educational, management, legal, and financial skills needed to ensure long term organizational stability and ensure year-to-year excellence for the Laredo Association of REALTORS®.

Director Qualifications:

  1. Applicants for the Association Board must be a member of LAR in good standing and shall have at least three (3) years of experience in real estate

  2. Director terms are for three (3) years. Board Member responsibilities include attendance at monthly in-person meetings. Absence from three (3) regular meetings without an excuse deemed valid by the board of directors shall be construed as resignation.

  3. Term limits. No director shall serve for more than two (2) consecutive three (3) year terms.

  4. No more than two (2) REALTORS from the same real estate firm may serve simultaneously on the board of directors.

Officer Qualifications:

  1. The elected officers of the Association shall be: a President, a President-Elect, a Vice President, a Secretary and a Treasurer. The Secretary and Treasurer may be the same person. They shall be elected for terms of one (1) year.

  2. Candidates for the position of officers must be a current sitting officer or director with at least one(1)year of service on the board of directors.

Declaration of Candidacy

Board positions require a commitment of time and energy that should not be underestimated. Board officers and directors are bound by a fiduciary duty to the LAR.

Time & Financial Considerations

  • Monthly Board Meetings
  • Committee Work (Association Directors serve as Liaisons on committees)
  • Quarterly membership meetings and luncheons. Attendance is certainly encouraged.
  • TREPAC Support: As with any REALTOR® Board, members will be solicited for investments in TREPAC; 100% participation is sought.

    • The Boards of Directors is the governing body of the Laredo Association of REALTORS®. The major function of the Board of Directors is to establish Board policy and procedures. The board governs, staff (AE, MLS Admin, administrative staff) manages. The Directors meet once a month.

    • Director applicants MUST be a primary member of LAR in good standing and shall have at least three (3) years of experience in real estate.
